FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 28, 2002WPF Announced St. Louis Open Winners
(Gallatin, TN ) - The second stop on the WPF/Nelson 2002 Tour was in St. Louis at Xtreme Paintball Park. Thirty 5-man teams and five 10-man
teams battled it out for $25,000.00 in cash and prizes. The event debuted WPF’s computerized scheduling and digital projected scoreboard. Once all teams were verified at the captains meeting,
the master schedule was created with a few clicks of a button and were printed at twenty pages-per-minute.Each of the three fields was assigned a Field Manager who kept teams on deck and ready to take the field. After each team was banded and
flipped, the Field Manager would shuttle the score sheets back to the scorekeeper to be digitally projected. This accounted for the entire
preliminary’s 120 games being completed by approximately 6:00 pm on Saturday afternoon. For the semi-finals and finals, fields 1 and 2 were utilized with an average of 9 and 11 referees per field.
The paint used was Nelson Paintball’s tournament grade Anarchy. The paint was manufactured ten days before the 5-man event. The paint
arrived in a refrigerated trailer that maintained a constant internal temperature of 65 degrees for the entire tournament..The event was covered by Dave Norman from Action Pursuit Games Magazine and Jessica Sparks from Paintball Magazine.
