Coverage by Sean Takeda, Columnist

Who was There

Player from Team BlowfishTombstone Paintball in Corona, California was home to Leon Styles’ (owner), third pump gun event.  Originally scheduled for April 2nd, the tournament was postponed to April 9th due to unexpected weather conditions.  Though there were only six teams in this event, it was most interesting, nonetheless.  The usual teams were present, which included Phil Dominguez, Fridge, and Wedo of Team Voodoo (Bushwackers), Zach, Erick, Antoine, Ray, and “Shaggy” of Team Yella, Mike and his Team Blowfish (guys send me your names so I can put you up!), two teams from Broken Arrow, celebrity guest player Wes Wong, and Mike Haynes formed the last team, Liquid Outsiders

The Tournament

Mike Haynes and Wes Wong from Team Liquid OutsidersGames started off to kind of a slow start, with the entire tournament being run on the Hyperball field.  There were only a few refs present, but they did a great job making sure that they games were on time, and that the players conformed to proper tournament play.  Games during preliminaries were basically anyone’s guess.  Teams were beating other teams on unexpected plays, which made the games very exciting for players and onlookers alike to watch.

Preliminaries to Finals

James Beatty from Team Broken Arrow (Honor)As the day progressed from the Preliminaries to the Finals, Team Voodoo, and Broken Arrow’s 2 teams made it into the finals.  The format for finals was “Round Robin” format with both of the Broken Arrow teams playing each other first, which was Arrow vs. Arrow Honor.

Arrow Honor lost, and played Team Voodoo for their next game, and pulled through with a victory.  Voodoo then played the other Arrow team, which started off with Arrow dropping a player right off the bat.  Combat continued to the last minute, with Arrow getting the flag pull on a 2-on-1 with Voodoo, with Trini Camarena and Sean Takeda sitting on Voodoo’s last player, with enough points for the 1st place seat.

The Final Results
