Facemask Cooling Fan

Here's an easy cheap way to keep your facemask fog free;

List of items you will need:

(Almost all items except fishing line are available at your local Radio Shack)

1. A CPU cooling fan <486/k62 w/lowest current rating>
2. A little momentary <pushbutton> switch
3. 9 volt battery
4. Some wire <about a foot>
5. Electrical tape <Scotch 3M is the best>
6. Fishing Line

Directions:

Take cpu fan.  Using a sewing needle mount cpu fan to top of mask using fishing line.  Mount your switch to side of mask ( place it on the elastic head strap near corner of mask) and sew it on using fishing line.  Next connect one wire (either) from cpu fan to switch. Then connect another wire from switch and make sure it can reach back of elastic strap. Add length of wire to cpu fan
wire so it will reach back of head strap.  Now connect wires (I used an old 9v connector from kids toy, however, you can pick these connectors up at Radio Shack) to battery.  Using tape mount the battery to back of elastic head strap.

I've made this cooling system and it works great.  You should be able to make it for less than $10 which is alot cheaper than the JT cooling system (and you don't need a JT mask!!)  I mounted switch on left side so my "gun" hand is still free to use.  The cpu fan is rated for 12 volts but don't worry 9 volt battery will run it fine.  You can use regular sewing thread but I like fishing line cause its very strong.  Don't worry if fan is a little larger than top of your mask.  Mount it so the front is flush & back can be skewed up a bit.  My paintball friends and I love this feature even though we have "thermal"masks or inserts some of us "chubby" old guys can work up quite a sweat.  Especially running down you younger kids hehe!!
