I've recently received my new mask for my birthday, and after having
used it at an all day big game, I got one thing to say: Thanks Mike!
Safety Features - Taken directly from Brass Eagle's®
Website, being that we wanted to get it exactly right:
ALL BRASS EAGLE® eye and face protection systems, specifically the #7471 Xtreme Vision™ 280 (as well as all of BE's masks) are certified as meeting or exceeding all safety specifications.
These safety standards are in accordance with ASTM (American Society of Testing and Measures) F1776-97 Entitled, "Standard Specifications for Eye Protective Devices for Paintball Sports". The independent tests conducted by the Detroit Testing Laboratory, Inc. consisted of three phases that measured the mask's performance under high-velocity impact, room temperature lens retention at high temperature lens retention. BRASS EAGLE® is the first full-line paintball manufacturing company to have its entire line of protective eye wear certified as meeting all the ASTM safety standard
Well for someone who isn't into upgrade mania, and likes the saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it", I was quite pleased and satisfied with my Brass Eagle® Xtreme Vision™ 280 mask. Instead of going on and on, I'm just gonna make an "old fashioned" pro and con list!
Pros
- Really does give you more vision all around.
- Lenses didn't really fog up (still gonna add my fan mod though !)
- Takes head shots very, VERY well and protects/cushions hits, awesome.
- With the lens farther from your face, friends tell me there's less
lens reflecting light. (of course I painted it Camoflauge!)
- Light weight and very comfortable. Snug, secure fit.
- Has an upper deflector which protects top of head nicely...and it
looks cool too!
Cons
- Top deflector works great protecting top of head. Unfortunately paint
flows down deflector through vents, over shield, and paint can get INSIDE
of lens. Rather tough to clean between games.
- Lens projects out from mask, making it very easy to scratch/damage
when dropped/bumped.
That's really it as far as I'm concerned. Mask works really good but
may require extra care with lens sticking out. Gonna have to modify top
deflector so paint won't run down inside of mask. All in all a very good
product. I'd recommend going to local store and trying on several masks
and compare view, comfort, ease of maintenance, price, etc. And just think,
you'd be quite happy as well impressed with Brass Eagle's Extreme Vision
Mask. I give it a "Thumbs Up!!"
