I recently had the chance to review a Check it Products Stainless Steel Armageddon barrel. As a brief overview, the Check-it Barrel is a very popular barrel on the West Coast specifically in California. It is known for being EXTREMELY competitively priced (est. $70) and have a life time warranty! Check-it's insistance of their barrels quality and performance demanded a review. As with my other barrel reviews, I will divide this in to the following sections: materials, cosmetics, performance, and my overall opinions and conclusions.
Materials
The Check-it Armageddon barrels is made from highly quality stainless steel, which, seems to be all the rage these days. As I am not fluent in the areas of metallurgy, thus, I cannot describe whether there is a difference in the stainless steel used in the check it barrel when compared to any other barrels on the market. What I can tell you is that the barrel is obviously made with high quality materials. It not only had an excellent finish but also was machined very well into a nice sleek and professionally-made package.
Cosmetics
The barrel is relatively simple looking. It is basically a straight tube of stainless steel that flares into what can only be described as a serpent-like front. The front of the barrel has several small rows of straight porting over the flaring section, which, is similar to that of the Dye stainless steel barrel but much sleeker looking.
Performance
The model I tested was the
ten-inch Automag variant. Proball Platinum was the paint used.
On closed-bolt guns such as the Autococker, Proball might be slightly small
for a barrel like the Check-it, which, tends to be medium bore. Proball
is optimally used in small-bore barrels. In play the barrel was fairly
quiet for a ten-inch barrel, but that is not saying much. It will
not be nearly as quiet as a sixteen or eighteen-inch ported barrel, but
for a ten inch it seemed to produce satisfactory noise.
In respect to accuracy the
barrel preformed very well. It seemed to shoot just as well as all
the other top of the line barrels I have tested , such as the Lapco
Bigshot.
Overall
In short the check it barrel is a very well made and very well performing barrel. It is accurate, excellently priced, and has a warranty to ensure your satisfaction. The barrel, while simple in design, remains attractive. I would definitely feel comfortable recommending this barrel along with Lapco barrels as an excellent aftermarket barrel for practically any paintball gun.
