THE WORLD PAINTBALL FEDERATION CONTRACTED BY ZAP PAINTBALL TO PRODUCE SKYBALL 2001PRESS RELEASE
NASHVILLE, TN: August 14, 2000: The World Paintball Federation announced today that it has received the contract from ZAP Paintball to produce the ZAP Skyball 2001. Scheduled for March 9th and 10th, 2001, Skyball will, again, be held at the Skydome in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This huge, all-indoor, 5 player tournament and giant consumer's floor show will be the largest paintball event to date, drawing approximately 200 teams from around the globe and over 50 industry vendors.
Held at Toronto's downtown Skydome facility, Skyball is the largest indoor paintball tournament in the world. Home to the major league baseball team, Toronto Blue Jays, and host to professional hockey, music concerts by international stars like Madonna and Kiss, and Canadian football, Skydome is the "world's greatest entertainment venue." ZAP Skyball 2000 has been redesigned from pervious years to allow spectators and players to watch and play paintball during the off season. Five player competitions will be played on fully netted, inflatable courts in Rookie, Novice, Amateur, and Open classifications. Additional activities and competitions such as target shoots and quick-fire competitions will also be held on the floor of the Skydome, open, for the first time, to players and spectators alike.
" The WPF is very proud to be producing next year's ZAP Skyball 2001, and we are confident that this event will be a success well beyond previous years," says Jim Lively, president of the WPF. " We have been working closely with ZAP for quite some time in producing the ZAP Tour events throughout the United States. With the addition of Skyball 2001, the WPF has taken its first step toward our goal of producing a fully-integrated, international series of tournaments."
Gordon Moore, president and C.E.O. of ZAP Paintball, states, "The management team at the World Paintball Federation will provide ZAP Skyball 2001 with the level of experience and expertise needed to successfully produce, promote, schedule, and score an event of this size. They will be working closely with our people at ZAP Paintball as well as other Canadian contractors to ensure player and spectator enjoyment."
